“Art funeral” is the title of a sculpture/installation done in 2004, in 2005 it also became the title of one of my solo exhibition in Milan. Linked to the discourse of Dead Art, these are works about art itself, works of art as well as performance. The following is the text of the stickers I gave away at the opening of the exhibition in 2005:

“At the venerable old age of several thousand years, devoured by a dark evil, art reluctantly passes away. The harrowing death, foretold centuries ago by the disease itself, has not taken anyone by surprise. The sad announcement come from trade operators, the Dow Jones, and the fruit and vegetable market. Visitors will be given the opportunity to pay homage to the body, which awaits your final farewell. For the funeral, no flowers, only art magazines; a perfect corollary to a wanted death.”
The concept of “Art Funeral” also includes the performance of Unexpected Art that I made between 2002 and 2003.

“I Funerali Dell’Arte” è il titolo di una mia scultura/installazione del 2004; nel 2005 divenne anche il titolo di una mia personale in quel di Milano. Legati al discorso dell’Arte Morta, sono lavori che si interrogano sull’arte, opere e anche performance. Quello che segue è il testo degli adesivi che distribuivo all’inaugurazione dell’esposizione del 2005:

“Alla veneranda età di svariati millenni, divorata da un male oscuro, si è spenta, seppur riluttante, l’Arte. Lo straziante decesso, preconizzato secoli or sono dallo stesso morbo che l’ha soppressa, non ha colto alcuno di sorpresa. Ne danno il triste annuncio gli operatori del settore, l’indice Dow Jones e il mercato ortofrutticolo. Ai visitatori verrà data la possibilità di rendere omaggio alla salma, che attende il vostro estremo saluto. Per le esequie, niente fiori, solo riviste d’arte; perfetto corollario per una morte cercata.”
Il concetto de “I Funerali Dell’Arte” comprende anche le performance di Arte Inattesa che ho realizzato tra il 2002 il 2003.
